Solenoide ACDelco

A device that uses an electromagnetic principle to work, as a relay, a solenoid have an electromagnetic coil. Internally the coil has a movable iron core.

When current flows through the coil, the iron core moves in a sense, when the coil is deenergized, the iron core or solenoid rod returns to its original position.

The solenoids can be used to cause movement to one way or another, such as opening or closing a valve, or control changes in an automatic transmission.
